Festive fun at ASN children’s group’s Christmas party
A local group for children with additional support needs recently held another fantastic, inclusive family event.
Ayrshire Am-asn Warriors, which organises events for ASN children and their families, recently held their Christmas Party at Jam Street Dance Studio, Kilmarnock, featuring bouncy castles, a raffle, a Santa’s grotto, fancy dress fun and even a visit from Rudolph and a Christmas penguin.
Councillor Mabon was a great sport as Rudolf (we’re told that the children loved him and didn’t give him a minute’s peace) and Ami-Louise Howard from EA Vibrant Communities bravely donned the penguin costume and was chased around the hall for the whole night.
An incredible £760 was raised through the raffle and ticket sales, which will be put towards future activities for the families.
The group was set up this summer by Kilmarnock mum, Yvonne Chafey, with the support of Gail Nicol, a social worker from our Children with Disabilities Team.
Since then our Children and Families Commissioning Team have continued to support Yvonne and everyone at Ayrshire Am-asn Warriors to look at future opportunities for our incredible parents and children with additional support needs in East Ayrshire.
Yvonne is passionate about creating a safe space for ASN children and their families to socialise, relax and make friends. The group is also an incredible source of support and friendship for fellow ASN parents.
Well done to Ayrshire Am-asn Warriors on another great success!
