Sir Alexander Fleming Centre celebrates ten years
The Sir Alexander Fleming Centre in Kilmarnock recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with a ‘Conversation and Celebration’ event involving coffee, cake, singing and reminiscing.
Guests included Councillor Lillian Jones, Council Chief Executive Eddie Fraser and Craig McArthur, Director of East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership. All took part in the festivities and enjoyed seeing photos reflecting many of the activities and events that have taken place at the centre over the last decade.
The centre provides a range of on-site and community-based activities for people with learning disabilities.
Craig McArthur said:
“I was delighted to help staff and service users mark such a milestone occasion in the centre’s history, which is a testament to the difference it has made and continues to make in the local community. I wish them every success for the future and am sure the next decade will be even brighter.”
Maureen Millar, Day Services Manager at the centre, said:
“The ‘Conversation and Celebration’ of ten years at the Sir Alexander Fleming Centre was incredible and surpassed anything I could have imagined.
“The fabulous comments from everyone and just seeing people having fun, sharing stories and laughter, as well as having time to look back and reflect on events and memories of the past ten years was a joy.
“The success was down to everyone involved, not only on the day but in the planning and lead up to it. I want to thank everyone involved from the bottom of my heart. Here’s to the next ten years!”
