Care and Repair team to host Digital Inclusion Event

22.08.2024

To celebrate The Good Things Foundation Get Online Week (Monday 14 – Sunday 20 October), our Care and Repair team will host a Digital Inclusion event for elderly and disabled residents in East Ayrshire.

Scheduled for Monday 14 October, the drop-in event will take place in the Dean Suite of Kilmarnock’s Park Hotel, and will give residents an opportunity to find advice and support on a wide range of digital skills.

A number of organisations will also be in attendance, including our Smart Supports and Sensory Supports teams, The Good Things Foundation and Vodafone.

Laura Kerr, Care and Repair Digital Inclusion Officer, told us more about the event and what it aims to achieve…

“The purpose of this event is for elderly and disabled residents to come along and get advice and support on anything they may be struggling with digitally. We also want them to discover the benefits of being online and to build their confidence in using the internet and digital devices.

“It will be a relaxed event and people can drop in at any time during the day.

“There will be a variety of devices set up, including laptops, iPads, mobile phones, Alexa devices, Ring doorbells and much more. We will encourage attendees to play around with the devices, and our Care and Repair staff will be on hand to offer advice on how to use them.

“People can also join small training sessions on subjects such as safety and security online, managing your health and money online, using email and much more. We also encourage people to bring along any devices of their own that they have and may be struggling to use.

“There will be quizzes, giveaways, tea, coffee and scones too!”
