Text message conversation - School has given me a vaccine consent form for HPV? Do I need it? Gran: Yes, it'll protect you against different cancers and genital warts when you're older. Reply: Oh! Sign tonight then?

HPV vaccinations

02.01.2025

The HPV vaccine helps protect people from HPV-related cancers and 90 per cent of genital wart infections. Getting the vaccine now protects young people against future risks.

An envelope with an information booklet about the vaccine, ingredients and any side effects, as well as a vaccine consent form, will be given to all East Ayrshire S1 pupils and any older eligible pupils with incomplete courses. These will be distributed by your child’s school. If your child does not receive a pack/consent form, please contact the school to request one.

It is important to ensure the consent form is returned even if you do not consent to your child receiving the vaccine. Failure to return the form will not be taken to mean non consent. If appropriate, your child may be immunised after giving their own consent.

More detailed information on the HPV vaccine can be found on NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Childhood Immunisation page.
