Killie Community supports residents over the festive period
A charity based at Kilmarnock Football Club provided much-needed support to people across East Ayrshire and beyond during the busy festive period.
Staff and volunteers from ‘The Killie Community’ charity packed over 500 parcels (containing food and other essentials) for families, individuals and young people, which were delivered by East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership colleagues and a host of other agencies.
Jamie Turnbull, EAHSCP Family Support Practitioner, told us more:
“The hampers were packed with local goodies and delivered all over East Ayrshire and beyond to voluntary services, schools, nurseries, community groups and individuals who needed them most.
“These deliveries took place a few days prior to the festive break and were facilitated by the Killie Community team, club sponsors and voluntary organisations, staff from East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, local projects and even members of Gargieston Primary School’s girls football team getting involved.
“The Killie Community team, along with Kilmarnock Football Club players, Killie Trust members, supporters and fundraisers also provided over 130 Christmas presents through their gift tree to children and young people in East Ayrshire.
“Well done to Jordan Alison (The Killie Community Chair) and everyone involved.
“This project was a brilliant example of our community’s strengths and what can be achieved with everyone coming together to support each other.”
Well done to everyone who took part in this incredible community effort and helped make Christmas that little bit brighter for people across East Ayrshire.
