Local hospital to raise dementia awareness at health and wellbeing event

A new event hosted at East Ayrshire Community Hospital is set to promote health and wellbeing during Dementia Awareness Week.

Taking place on Tuesday 3 June in Cumnock, the event will provide information for anyone who is currently living with dementia, as well as their family, friends and carers.

Taking place on Tuesday 3 June in Cumnock, the event will provide information for anyone who is currently living with dementia, as well as their family, friends and carers.

The hospital will be transformed with a range of information stalls and opportunities to chat to friendly and knowledgeable providers of dementia support near you. There will also be a community living room, free health checks and refreshments available with the opportunity to sit and relax in the hospital’s dementia-friendly environment.

On the day of the event visitors can use additional parking at the Barony Campus, situated across the road from the hospital.

Dementia Awareness Week

This year’s Dementia Awareness Week will take place between 2 – 8 June and aims to raise awareness of dementia and help improve the lives of people with dementia, their families and carers.

As a community based health and wellbeing hub, the hospital hosts regular events and groups at its community wellbeing centre.
