Participatory budgeting
Participatory budgeting, more commonly referred to as PB, is a way for people to directly vote on how local money should be spent.
It is used all over the world to help fund projects that range from environmental initiatives to youth work.
PB can be used for a variety of things, but the principles are the same no matter the subject:
- Ideas are generated about how a budget should be spent
- People vote for their priorities
- The projects with most votes are funded
East Ayrshire Council has information on PB events that have taken place in the area.
