Positive staff experience reflected in iMatter questionnaire

03.09.2026

East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership staff recently took part in the ‘iMatter’ questionnaire – a survey of staff experience which included questions about their line managers, happiness in their role and overall job satisfaction.

Almost 1,600 members of staff reported high levels of confidence in their direct managers, effective team-working experiences and a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

Erik Sutherland, Acting Director of East Ayrshire HSCP, spoke about the survey and the importance of staff feedback in improving the EAHSCP employee experience:

“There are many areas of strength. There are also opportunities for improvement. People responding have identified a need for greater involvement in organisational decision-making, and increased visibility of and accessibility to senior leaders.

“People have also said that they want to have greater confidence in organisational performance management, and to see that staff views and ideas influence change. Some of these measures have shown a decline in recent years and we want to focus on them in the next 12 months.

“The iMatter action plan sets out the steps we will take during 2026/27 to build on our strengths and address the areas where everyone’s experience can be improved.

“Our focus will be on strengthening communication and engagement, enhancing leadership visibility, improving opportunities for workforce influence, supporting wellbeing, and ensuring that people can clearly see how their feedback informs decisions and service improvement.

“Through delivery of this plan, we aim to foster a culture where we all feel informed, involved, empowered and valued so that we can contribute to the best possible outcomes for people drawing on our care and support.”
