Full marks for Danny and Kayleigh in graduate apprenticeships
Congratulations are in order for two members of partnership staff who recently scored all As in their graduate apprenticeships.
Danny Cox, Smart Supports Peer Mentor, completed the second year of a BSc (Hons) in Data, AI and Software Engineering at UWS through the council’s graduate apprenticeship scheme in September last year, while Kayleigh McDill, Senior Business Support Administrator, recently completed the first year of her graduate apprenticeship in Business Management.
Despite jumping straight into the second year of the course, Danny achieved a remarkable set of results, earning an A for every part of his studies after designing an android calendar app.
He told us more about the course and his ‘Care Calendar’ app:
“The graduate apprenticeship programme includes a number of work-based projects, looking at the practical implementation of software development.
“My project for the most recent one was a smartphone app called ‘Care Calendar’ which is aimed at people with cognitive impairments and learning disabilities.
“This app is designed to support users with daily living and organisation, providing audiovisual prompts for personal care activities, such as medication prompting, meals, showering and managing appointments.
“The app also has a strong focus on accessibility options, large icons and picture-based navigation.”
Congratulations also go to Kayleigh McDill, Senior Business Support Administrator, who recently completed the first year of her graduate apprenticeship in Business Management.
Like Danny, Kayleigh also finished the year with As in every module. She is now looking forward to what the remaining three years of her course will bring, describing it as a “personal challenge”.
